I’m packing and organizing for some media work at Farm Aid in St. Louis tomorrow. I’ve also been working on fall projects and tonight we’re expecting a low in the mid 30′s. Fall is quickly arriving. For a brief post, I’m sharing a photo of the daily egg harvest.

From left to right: two Rouen eggs; two Cayuga eggs; one Indian Runner egg; one black sex link chicken egg; two Buff Orpington chicken eggs

I found your site while trying to find out what a fawn runner duck egg might look like. We have 4, 2M & 2F with our daisy being the smallest, sassiest & most brave. I didn’t know they could have green beaks and thought something must be wrong with her at first. We got them as babies this spring. I found an egg tonight in some tall grass inside the gate of the pen. It doesn’t look like any of our chicken eggs. It is much smaller, perhaps 1 1/2 inches long. I can’t tell if it is gray, brown, green or white. It is rather mottled but its difficult to tell as it was muddied and while I washed it off it was stained. I have no idea who it belongs to.
How interesting! My fawn runner’s eggs are slightly more grey — the Cayuga’s are slightly more rose pink — but that’s comparing them side by side — by themselves, each looks “white”. The first egg from Cayugas can be dark, black, or patterned, see this page for an example:
